2022 Regions Bank Riding Forward High School Scholarship Awarded to Brian Perryman, Jr.

Brian Perryman, Jr, the son of Brian and Coleecia Perryman and the grandson of Mrs. Lois Merriweather, was a recipient of a 2022 Regions Bank Riding Forward Scholarship ($5000) awarded to high school and college students.

The Regions Riding Forward® Scholarship Contest celebrates stories of Black Americans who inspire others to positively impact the world around them. Famous icon, trailblazer or local mentor, their story is worth sharing. It’s an 11-year tradition of students winning valued scholarships.

Darryl Croom, Jr. Awarded 2nd Place in the Birmingham City District-Wide Mathematics and Computer Science Fair


Darryl Croom, Jr., the son of Darryl and Johnnie Croom and the grandson of Mrs. Viola Croom, was named the 2nd place winner in the Birmingham City District-wide Mathematics and Computer Science Fair. Well done “DJ”!

Lauren and Londyn Harrell Makes Decision to be Baptized

We give God the thanks, praise and the glory for the decisions of Lauren and Londyn Harrell, daughters of Ms. Jacqueline Harrel, to step out on faith and be baptized.

Christen Boling is Currently Enrolled in the BSN Program at Auburn University – Montgomery

Christen Boling, the daughter of Chris and Erica Boling, is currently enrolled in the College of Nursing & Health Sciences at Auburn University – Montgomery. Christen is studying to obtain a Bachelor in Science Degree in Nursing.

Jillian Jolly Excels at Yale!!!

Jillian Jolly, the daughter of Ms. Jacqueline Harrell, made A’s at Yale University during the Fall Semester. She will graduate May 2023 and has accepted a position as a Litigation Paralegal with a law firm in Washington DC after graduation during her gap year. Jillian will be attending Law School.

Skyler Green Makes Her Decision to be Baptized

Skylar Green, the daughter of Ms. Althea Acoff and the grand-daughter of Ms. Alfedo Acoff, made the decision to dedicate her life to the Lord and present her body for water baptism. To God be the glory!

Congratulations to Christion Griggs for Winning the Alabama High School 6A State Wrestling Championship

Christion Griggs, the son of Ms. Althea Acoff and the grandson of Ms. Alfedo Acoff, is the winner of the Alabama High School 6A Wrestling Championship (160 lb Weight Class). Christion is a junior at McAdory High School. McAdory,  as a team, has been named 6A Wrestling Champions.

Jillian Jolly is a Candidate for the Bachelor of Arts from Yale University

Jillian Jolly, the daughter of Ms. Jacqueline Harrell, is a candidate for the degree of Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology and a Certificate in Education Studies from Yale University. Jillian will receive her degree at the 322nd Commencement of Yale University on May 22, 2023. Congratulations, Jillian, for a job well done!

Darryl Croom, Jr Won 3rd Place in Engineering in the UAB – CORD Central Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair

Darryl (DJ) Croom, Jr., the son of Darryl and Johnnie Croom, and the grandson of Mrs. Viola Croom and Mrs. Annie Holt, was presented the 3rd place winner in engineering at the University of Alabama Birmingham Center for Community OutReach Development’s Central Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair. We are proud of you DJ!

Londyn Harrell Inducted Into the National Junior Honor Society and National Beta Club

Londyn Harrell, the daughter of Ms. Jacqueline Harrell, has been inducted into the National Junior Honor Society and the National Beta Club at John Herbert Phillips Academy. Congratulations, Londyn, for a job well done!
