Our Pastor – Rev. Warren D. Williams, MDiv.

The Rev. Warren D. Williams, Jr. was born in New Brunswick, NJ and moved to Tuscaloosa, AL by way of Brooklyn, NY in 1987. He received his elementary and secondary education from the New Brunswick Public School system where he graduated from New Brunswick High School. While in high school, he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. Academically, he was a member of the National Honor Society, the Key Club International and a recipient of the National Achievement Scholarship Program for Outstanding Negro Students.

Education
Rev. Warren D. Williams is a 1994 graduate of the University of Alabama and graduated summa cum laude from Hood Theological Seminary in 2015 where he received a Master of Divinity degree. While a student at Hood, he was the 2013 – 2014 recipient of THE CLINTON L. WILCOX SCHOLARSHIP – An award given by the Greater Centennial A.M.E. Zion Church in Mt. Vernon, New York, to a deserving A.M.E. Zion ministerial student; the 2013 – 2014 recipient of the ROBERT HARKRADER SCHOLARSHIP – an award based upon academic merit and financial need, established anonymously by a friend in the First United Methodist Church of Salisbury, NC; the 2014 – 2015 recipient of the Doesrous L. Thurman Phillips’ Memorial – an award given by St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church of Chicago, in honor of Mrs. Phillip’s 60 years of devoted service in the Sunday School and Christian Education Department, and in recognition of the student who shows promising scholarship and excellent character; the GuideOne Foundation Scholarship – awarded by the GuideOne Insurance Company of West Des Moines, Iowa; and the 2014 – 2015 recipient of the BISHOP GEORGE JUNIUS LEAKE III ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP, a scholarship established with endowment funds to perpetuate the legacy of Bishop George J. Leake III and awarded to qualifying A.M.E. Zion ordained clergy. The recipients are of this scholarship are designated as Leake Scholars.

Ministry
Rev. Warren D. Williams has previously served as the pastor of Mt. Olive AME Zion Church in Duncanville, AL; Mt. Liberty AME Zion Church in Cottondale, AL and Jerusalem AME Zion Church in Tuscaloosa, AL. Along with his duties as a pastor, Rev. Williams serves as the Director of Communications for the Alabama-Florida Episcopal District of the AME Zion Church, Director of Project 100 for the North Alabama Conference of the AME Zion Church, Dean of the Course of Studies of the North Alabama Conference and of the Tuscaloosa-Bessemer District, an instructor in Preaching, Theology and Christian Education for the Tuscaloosa-Bessemer District course of study, a member of the District and Conference Board of Admissions, an instructor in Theology for the Alabama-Florida Episcopal District, and a member of the Board of Trustees for Lomax-Hannon Junior College.

Rev. Williams has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from The University of Alabama and is retired as the Information Systems Data Specialist and HIPAA Security Officer at Brewer Porch Children’s Center. Brewer Porch is a University of Alabama program established by the Alabama Legislature in 1970 to provide a model treatment program for Alabama’s special needs children, adolescents and their families.

Family

He is married to the former Martha J. Young and is the father of four children as well as the grandfather of six.
